5.1 Prepositions of Place & Time

Preposition tunjuk tempat (in, on, under), conjunction sambung ayat (and, but, because). Perekat ayat! 🧲

1Prepositions of Place (tempat)

  • Preposition = perkataan kecil yang tunjuk KEDUDUKAN benda 📍

  • in

    di dalam — in the box, in the room

    on

    di atas (bersentuh) — on the table

    under

    di bawah — under the chair

    behind

    di belakang — behind the door

  • Lagi: in front of (depan), next to / beside (sebelah), between (antara) 🔀
  • *"The cat is under the table."* 🐱 / *"The book is on the shelf."* 📚

  • on (bersentuh atas)

    • •on the table
    • •on the wall

    in (di dalam)

    • •in the drawer
    • •in the bag
  • Eh, tahu tak? "between" untuk DUA benda (between A and B), tapi "among" untuk TIGA atau lebih (among the trees). Pilih ikut berapa banyak!
Tip Power: Silap klasik: "in the table" ❌ untuk benda di atas meja. Kalau atas & bersentuh, guna "on the table" ✅. "in" untuk dalam sesuatu.

Prepositions of Place (tempat)

Prepositions of Time (masa)

  • Preposition juga tunjuk MASA — tiga geng utama: in, on, at ⏰
  • at
    masa tepat — at 5 o'clock, at night
    on
    hari & tarikh — on Monday, on 5 June
    in
    bulan, tahun, musim — in June, in 2026
  • Pilih in/on/at (masa): Jam / waktu tepat? → atHari / tarikh? → onBulan / tahun / musim? → in
  • *"School starts at 7:30."* / *"We rest on Sunday."* / *"It rains in November."* ☔
  • Silap klasik: *"on Monday morning"* betul, tapi *"in the morning"* untuk umum ✅
  • Eh, tahu tak? Ada frasa masa yang TAK guna preposition langsung: "yesterday", "today", "tomorrow", "last week", "next year" — jangan tulis "in yesterday"!

Cara ingat: Masa: 'AT jam, ON hari, IN besar (bulan/tahun)'. Makin besar tempoh masa, makin ke belakang abjad (at→on→in)!

Prepositions of Movement (gerakan)

  • Sesetengah preposition tunjuk ARAH atau gerakan 🚶
  • to
    ke arah — go to school
    into
    masuk ke dalam — jump into the pool
    up / down
    naik / turun — up the stairs
    across
    menyeberang — walk across the road
  • *"The children ran to the field."* 🏃 / *"She climbed up the hill."* ⛰️
  • Year 4 KSSR tambah: up, down, upstairs, downstairs, out, by, opposite 🏠
  • *"My room is upstairs."* / *"The shop is opposite the bank."* 🏦

Tip Power! Preposition selalu diikuti noun / pronoun: "to school", "into it", "across the road". Ada perkataan lepas dia!
