4.1 Adjectives (Describing Words)

Adjective cantikkan noun (a BIG dog), adverb hebatkan verb (run FAST). Describing words power! 🎨

1Apa itu Adjective?

  • Adjective = perkataan yang huraikan atau ceritakan pasal noun 🎨
  • Jawab soalan: *What kind? Which one? How many? What colour?* ❓

  • Saiz

    big, small, tall, tiny

    Warna

    red, blue, green, yellow

    Rasa/Perasaan

    happy, sad, sweet, angry

    Bilangan

    many, few, three, some

  • Selalu duduk DEPAN noun: *"a red car", "a happy boy"* 🚗
  • Atau selepas verb "to be": *"The car is red."* ✅

Apa itu Adjective?

  • Adjective = perkataan yang huraikan atau ceritakan pasal noun 🎨

Susunan & Possessive Adjectives

  • Adjective boleh banyak sekali: *"a big red ball"* ⚽
  • Susunan biasa: pendapat → saiz → warna → noun (a nice big blue box) 📦

  • Adjective (huraikan)

    • big, red, happy
    • a big dog

    Possessive adjective (milik)

    • my, your, his, her
    • my dog
  • *"She has long black hair."* — dua adjective, saiz + warna 💇
  • Adjective TAK berubah walaupun noun plural: *"two big cats"* (bukan "bigs") 🐈
  • Eh, tahu tak? Dalam English, adjective TAK ada bentuk jamak. Kita cakap "three red apples", bukan "three reds apples". Cuma noun je yang jadi plural!

Cara ingat: Adjective duduk depan noun macam 'topping' depan aiskrim: pilih rasa (nice), saiz (big), warna (blue), baru noun (box)!

Comparatives & Superlatives

  • Nak banding DUA benda → comparative (tambah -er + than) ⚖️
  • Nak cari PALING → superlative (the + adjective + -est) 🏆

  • Comparative (2 benda)

    • tall → taller than
    • Ali is taller than Sam.

    Superlative (paling)

    • tall → the tallest
    • Ali is the tallest.
  • Adjective panjang guna more / most: *beautiful → more beautiful → the most beautiful* 🌸
  • good
    better → the best (irregular!)
    bad
    worse → the worst (irregular!)
    big
    bigger → the biggest (gandakan g)
    happy
    happier → the happiest (y jadi i)
  • Silap klasik: *"more taller"* ❌ → pilih SATU je: *"taller"* ✅

Tip Power! Comparative mesti ada "than": "taller THAN". Superlative mesti ada "the": "THE tallest". Jangan lupa geng dia!
